Dan, thanks for posting! Great to hear a first-hand account. My only hope now is that we see ya at the workouts again soon :)
And stop swimming please. It WAS the only thing I had on ya. Now I guess I'll just focus on my transitions. T1 race? Bring it Stephens!!! :D

Great report Dan! I love reading stories which seem to be a rarity these days with all the texting, tweeting and facebooking. I read every word of every page. Thank you for taking the time to write this and share your experience with us.
I like your last few words about you just deciding to do it. I believe we tend to put limitations on ourselves and make excuses for not pursuing our goals or chasing our dreams out of fear of failing.
I continue to be amazed by the people of all shapes, sizes, ages, etc. who do this fantastic race! After watching Casey race in the 2008 IM Canada, that is when I decided NO MORE EXCUSES, RAE! I was always very good at coming up with reasons why I couldn't or shouldn't do something. But mostly, I think my main motivator was that I've never been very good at spectator sports and decided I was going to do the next one so I didn't have to stand around all day. Regardless, no more excuses! And after completing IM Canada this year, I feel anything is truly possible if I set my mind to it. For that, I am grateful.
You are an amazing athlete, Dan, and it's been fun following your progress! You inspire me to work harder and train smarter. Thank you and Congratulations!

Thanks for posting this Dan. It was a great read and a true reflection of what can be done versus what we only dream about. Thank you for sharing the journey and thanks for showing us that dreams are possible if you are prepared to realize them.

Enjoyed the literature... we'll be looking for you and maybe that 'sign' when the TV coverage comes out...when is that by the way?
And thanks for being Mr. Consistent, training is easier and more fun with a buddy to depend on.
Thanks for all of your kind words.
NBC's coverage of the event will be 12/19 from 2:30-4:00.
