Every year the BoiseAeros drive down to Boulder City (just outside Las Vegas) for 5 days of biking in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Everyone is invited; men and women, and you don’t need to be an Aeros member. The only requirement is that you would enjoy the following; sleeping in, biking 2 to 4 hours, eating tons at the buffet, taking a nap, playing a little blackjack, then hitting the hay just to wake up and do it all again the next day.

This year the plan, according to the Aeros website, is to drive down Sunday Feb 28th, bike 5 days and drive back Saturday March 6th. We are staying at the Hacienda Hotel and Casino, right at the entrance to the recreation area, and rooms run less than $30 a night for two double beds. Last year it was sunburns and low 70’s the whole time(no guarantees on weather), and I’m definitely going again this year, as long as Antonio and Joe don’t go. I think a couple guys might be going down on Feb 25th to do a stage race in the same area we are staying. Kelly Wilde would probably know more about that, or you could post your dates to the Aeros site. My schedule is pretty flexible so I don't care what days I am down there, I'm just looking forward to biking on smooth pavement in warm weather.

Jake and the people doing a 3 day stage race are leaving early, (25th ?), I think most of the rest of us are leaving Saturday morning the 28th. I am driving my Trooper and a trailer that holds 10 bikes. We will work out who else is driving and rides later. For those flying, it would be best for you to come in together and rent a car. We are a half hour away but no gaurantees that we can drop what we are doing ( riding, sunbathing, napping) and come get you.
We have no formal training plans each day. Everyone is free to do their own thing (run in AM, ride hard, ride 4 hours plus, go easy) or ride with whichever group they want (Liby's lung searing peloton, Adam's leg breaker pack, or my lunch cruise to Lake Las Vegas). Most rides are 3 to 4 hours (that would give you 5,000-6,000' of climbing). It is the Silverman course afterall. Check out the Silvermannv website, the Hacienda website and Callville bay classic for lots of pics of the area.
The Hacieda Hotel and Casino is charging $19.95 a night for a double room and 39.95 on the weekends. The grand buffett runs around 8-9 bucks for evenings refueling (unless Joe goes, then they'll have to raise their rates).
More info next month. Kelly

I'm not allowed into buffets. Both for my sake, and the global lobster population.
