Our first intra-club event will be a 'Chinese Relay', starting at 10.15 am on Saturday, 13th. Basically, its a team running race with a difference. All you need to do is to show up at the 'Golden Gate Bridge' at about 10.10 am and be ready to team up with someone else and run somewhere between 6 and 10 miles (depending upon ability). I'll be sending out an e-mail to all fully signed up members that explains it.
There will be a short swim that day from 9.00 am till 9.30 am (longer if you are not 'Chinese Relaying').
Julie has booked the standard table at 'Chef Lou's' for breakfast/brunch for after the event.
Prizes for the winning team.

The 'Golden Gate Bridge' is on the Greenbelt, about 2 miles South of mile zero (Anne Frank's memorial).

there are a few ways to run through Barber Park. So for clarification, here is the route:

Should that be 2 miles East?
You know there was an English explorer named Frobisher that in the 1500's tried to find the Northwest Passage? Instead he landed in Northern Canada and took 1,300 tons of ore back to England that turned out to be fools gold. He apparently wasn't too good at directions either.

Ahhh, my very long, long lost relation, good old Sir Martin Frobisher. Bit of a plonker really but he did receive a knighthood for his endeavours.....!
How about 2 miles upstream from Anne Frank's......??

I like basing this on latest 10k time....Sunday's race I felt like I set a blistering pace of 14 minute/miles for most of it, although I may have slowed to 15 minute/miles the last part.

I got a lot to carry around. That's why I'm leaning towards the black uniforms....they're slimming.

If you are going to participate in the Chinese Relays but you are not swimming between 9.00 - 9.30 am tomorrow, please be at the Golden Gate bridge for 10.00 am. Seeding is critical and can only be done when everyone is in place.
Hope to see you there. Forcast if for light snow......!!!!

There were 18 hardy souls who raced in the inaugural 'Chinese Relays'. Conditions were cold with a dusting of occasional light snow. Noteable mentions include Suzanne almost barfing at the end of the run, James running with 6 legs and Casey taking a blood sugar count part way through the race!
Results were:
1st: Doc Rob and Doc Jeff (something fishy about that..hhmm)!
2nd: Tom Liby and Katy F
3rd: Casey and Joe
4th: Eric and Taylor
5th: Neil and Suzanne
6th: Dr James and Colby (the 8 legged team)
7th: Decker and Hortie
8th: Dan and Julie
9th: Kevin and Jessica
Congratulations to Jeff and Rob who now have the bragging rites of being the first ever Boise-Y-Tri-Club-Chinese-Relay-Champions-2008 (which is really a sobriety test from now on!).
Breakfast/brunch was an enjoyable affair afterwards at Chef Lou's.
Next intra-club race is the 'Frost Bite Winter Series Biathlons'. These are scheduled every month from January through April; more about that next week.
Thank you Harold for organizing...it was a ton of fun. Also, I like the ring to the biathlon series as long as there is no swimming involved:) Hope to you all tonight.

First I would like to thank Jeff for being the fast part of our team. Second I would like to thank all my competitors. Without you guys there would have been no race and nobody to mock post race. Third I would like to thank myself for being such an athletic specimen and such a gracious winner.
I will have my MAJOR AWARD on display at my office for those of you who would like to stop by and see it and maybe touch it. Its also not a bad Idea to spend time around a CHAMPION like myself. Some of my speed may osmosissize to you. I look forward to defeating all of you again next time!! Have a great day.

Nice Doc Rob... I'm going to 'osomsissize' from you...
That was a super fun race, I loved the ever changing dynamics of the race. Fun way to go hard.
