Spring Break Camp: YMCA Youth Triathlon
March 29th – April 2nd, 2010
Camp Description
The Youth YMCA Triathlon Camp is under the supervision of the expert coaching staff, participants take part in daily swim, bike, and run workouts. Athletes receive custom, multisport-specific instruction, in addition to goal setting lessons; learning the art of balancing school sports and academics. Swimming and running will focus on technique. Biking will place emphasis on developing bike handling skills and road safety. Each child in the camp will receive a t-shirt.
Camp Schedule
The Youth Triathlon Camp will meet at the West YMCA at 8:45am, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday morning. The camp ends at 12:00 pm; kids can be picked up in the Lobby or just outside the Y. On the last day, Friday, we will conclude the camp with a triathlon race. The swim will take place in the YMCA pool, followed by a bike and run outside. Campers will need to arrive at 8:30am on Friday for race preparation. The race will begin at 9:00am.

Race Distances:
· Age groups 7-10: Swim 100 yards, Bike 2 mi., Run 0.5 mi.
· Age groups 11-15: Swim 200 yards, Bike 4 mi., Run 1 mi.
Items to Bring
Athletes are required to bring their own triathlon equipment to camp including:
· Swim suit, goggles, water bottle, and towel.
· Running clothes, running shoes (no flip-flops or sandals) and sun screen.
· Bicycle (any type), biking clothes (optional), and helmet. Bring bike locks if you have them.
A bike and helmet safety check will be conducted on the first day of camp. Please have a big healthy breakfast before showing up to the day’s session. Healthy snacks are also highly recommended for the two nutrition breaks.
Cost
Non-facility member fee: $150 (Financial assistance available)
Full-facility member fee: $100 (Financial assistance available)
