Hi all! Thanks to Richard we have access to the much warmer Lakeharbor pond. I will be at the gate around 5:45 tonight to let people in.

Directions:
Heading West on State St., turn South on Market Lane and then West on Lakeharbor Lane. Once you come close to the intersection of Lakeharbor and Harbor, right by Montego Bay, find a place to park.

The gate to enter the pond is on the east side of the apartment complex. I'll be standing out there to find people if they get lost.

The greenbelt is only about 1/4 a mile away from where we will be swimming.

See you all tonight!

I'm going to try and get in tonight.....for however long I can tolerate the cold water. We'll see.....

Thanks so much for organizing this. It was my first open water swim of the year. Even though I mostly just treaded water and got acclimated, I felt this was really successful for me, and now I'm able to move on to the next step of swimming longer distances in open water. The tip about the diving reflex was very helpful-now I know what to expect.

I'd also like to thank Harold, Kevin, Raul and Julie for all their support. I was really reluctant to join the tri club because I'm not an especially fast, strong or gifted triathlete. I was always sort of intimidated by everyone showing up at the Spring Sprint in their uniforms, warming up on bike trainers and all that. I figured everyone had to be way more hardcore than I am! But so far, my experience has been really positive. Thanks, everyone!

Thanks Chris...and thanks Jen for the comments. This is why we coach...to get people enjoying a healthy active lifestyle. It comes down to enriching lives with other people who have a zest for life...thanks for adding this to our club.

Lake Harbor was almost too warm...may leave the wetsuit at home next time :0

I did not swim Monday night-out of sheer terror of the cold of water-so I heard it was fine. Will we be able to have further swims there? Susan

Chris thanks again for organizing the Lake Harbor swim. The water was warm as promised plus it was great having the long distance to swim.

For those of you interested, I did a quick check on Google Earth and it looks like the triangle loop the main group did yesterday was just shy of a full mile.

Thanks Clay for the info!

I spoke with Harold last night and a possible plan going forward is to swim at Lakeharbor on Saturday mornings, followed by our run and then breakfast at Eddie's diner - yum! Monday evening swims can be at Veterans because it's warmer in the evenings and we need to get used to the really cold water.

Kev, I wasn't joking about it almost being too warm for a wetsuit! I think our big weekend storm cooled it down too, it felt warmer last week.

I believe with my advanced sighting techniques that I actually swam closer to 1.2 miles; I prefer to swim in zig zag fashion versus straight line.

Oh swimming?! I was wondering what activity you were doing in the pond last night.
