Has anyone seen this new hydration system for the bike? It's called SpeedFill. I met a friend of the inventor of this new system on the plane coming home from Chicago. I'm technically challenged otherwise I'd put a hyperlink here.:D She claims it has been tested in a wind tunnel and it is supposed to make the bike faster, as it is placed on the downtube. Please let me know your thoughts, as I'd love to do away with my cages. She also said it has been featured in Triathlete magazine as well.

Hi Tiana,

Is this what you are talking about?

I imagine there are some aerodynamic advantages associated with putting the bottle so far down in the frame???....otherwise seems like an odd place to put it :)

Just installed this two weeks ago, love it. If you buy one just make sure not to cut the tube too short. I made this mistake and will need to order another tube. The great thing about this system is the water stays in the tube, so its a lot easier to get at the water than the profile design water bottles that fit between the areo bars. Also, its dead easy to refill with a water bottle if you carry two off the seat. I recommend it.

I've decided that two waters bottle will not be enough hydration for the Boise Half. So, I've joined two systems together.

What do you think?

I had bought that this winter but sent it back. If all you are using is water it would be OK, but it's a bitch to take that tank and tube off the bike after each ride to clean it out. And I've learned that if you don't clean out that HammerNutrition from your bottles immediately, it will create a fungus that rivals joe's toe funk.

Good point, I've learned that lesson as well. The tube will only ever be used for water (or best intentions). The other bottle will hold all the gunk+water. Its pretty easy to clean in a dish washer.

Um Cody, I noticed the books on the work out bench. Doesn't do you much good if don't use it. At least there aren't clothes haning on the treadmill. Another thing, How do you know which straw to suck?

@Rob, yup that is my off-season workout bench / in-season bookshelf. I suppose I should be using it all season long.

As for which straw to suck, well, I guess its a bit of an adventure. Sort of like most of my triathlons. I guess I could also separate the two by the big black valve at the end of one of them.:D But, maybe not. Might not be obvious enough.

Iguess if you get on both at the same time you can kill 2 birds with one stone. Plus if your getting twice as much fluid per suck your saving energy. I like the way you think man.

Hydration can be very complicated Joe.

Just think what you could do with 3 straws!

If I were to add any more straws, I would ONLY want this awesome, stylin' and profilin' drink holder.
