Next week's program will be a skeleton schedule, i.e. all of you that compete in the 70.3 event should not run at all next week, but it's good to get out on the bike for some easy spinning and to do some easy swimming. I also want the coaches to get a decent break as well. Given that:

There will be NO scheduled runs at all next week until Monday, 21st.
There will be NO scheduled bike sessions during the day until Tuesday 22nd.

There WILL BE an easy 5.30 pm and 6.00 pm bike session from CB on Tuesday, 15th.
There Will BE an easy 5.30 pm bike session from CB on Thursday, 17th.
There WILL BE a steady (not flat out) bike intervals session on Friday evening from CB at 5.30 pm or 6.15 pm at Hidden Springs.

There will be NO pond swim in Veteran's at noon on Monday or Wednesday
There WILL BE a pond session on Friday at noon in Veterans.

There is NO CHANGE to the Master's swim program next week.

I'm meeting with all of the coaches on Wednesday, 16th to finalize the summer program. The focus will be on the Olympic Distance races for the majority but we hoping to put together an 'Ironman' plan for those who are competing in either Canada and/or Arizona. The new summer schedule should be out on Thursday, 17th.

Enjoy the 'down time' while you can; then get it into gear for Spudman, Emmett, Deschutes, Hidden Springs, etc.

thanks, Harold. I'm still doing "stealth" training for my 70.3 in September, so I'll be checking in as my schedule allows...

Can you please make this schedule clear to the coaches? They were under the asumption that THIS tues ride was hard, not easy as was posted. Also can you make sure the your coaches are sweeping? I had to pull off the ride tonight to sweep the new guy. Thanks

Justine,
I would imagine that the only folk that rode hard were the ones that did not compete on Saturday and since you did, I'm glad that you were able to get an easy ride with the new guy. Thanks for sweeping him.

Please contact Kevin directly regarding the bike coaches.

I am pretty sure everyone who showed up minus one person raced saturday. I was riding with them, but dropped back when I noticed the new guy was not on the pace line. My point is that this should be the coaches job to sweep and shouldnt be taking away from the members ride. This isnt the first time that this has happened. And I did talk to Kevin before the ride about this...

Thanks Justine for helping out...Tue is a drop ride, however, and everyone's 'easy' is going to be very different.
We provide sweepers on Thur, Friday and Sunday rides.
We usually have 3 options on Tuesdays...a fast, faster, and fastest group. But with this being a down week we only had the 'one' option.
Happy Recovering...

I saw some of the group meeting at Camel's Back for the ride - but I opted to mountain bike instead and it was AWESOME! I made it riding through a switchback without falling. Yep - I'm kinda digging this mountain bike thing. I almost continued my tradition of stepping/falling in dog crap, but luckily I managed to curtail the mishap. :D Yay!! Raul, you would have been proud.

Not to belabor the point but aren't 'easy' and 'drop ride' oxymoron's?

In Justine's defense and the well being of the athletes that competed this last weekend, I was baffled when I saw the group as I warmed up for my ride. As I cruised along in my SMALL chainring (yes a bike does have two front rings, typically a 53/39) seeing the group already in the big rings at the light on Harrison and completely out of sight by Hillside JHS was mindblowing.

Personally, I think that recovery needs to be taken just as seriously as our hard training and this week would probably be best served as a recovery week as posted in the original mail.

I'm with you on the recovery point Tom.............

The body, as well as the mind, needs downtime to recover, rejuvinate and get ready for the next training cycle.

Training and racing are great, but you've got to learn to appreciate - and respect - the taper and the recovery time..........I sure like it!!
