I was following the 70.3 on saturday, and for those of you who didn't, Harold placed 2nd in his age group. WOW!! We are training with the 2nd fastest 55-60 age group male in the WORLD! If you haven't paid your dues yet you better before he gets back, his rates might triple after this showing.
Dan finished 21st out of 132 with a 4:25:05. Ah pretty dang good I would say. I think that was 15min faster than his Boise time. The winner in the age group did a 4:09:14, thats fast!!
Horten got 8th and Kevin was 18th in what sounded like pretty bad weather in San franciso. All in all a great way to end the year.
Anyone know how our crew from silver man did??
Way to go guys and gals. Looking forward to the 17th.

Mo placed 5th in the Clydesdale division with a time of 06:59:37!
I couldn't find Jeff's results.

I don't think Jeff did the full tri, so he may not have results.
Nice job by the group! I was watching the webcast of the World's finish line and Harold looks like he was just a BIT tired when he crossed the finish line. I personally think his time was partially due to his new tri shorts that have a little more "coverage". Dan looked like he was in a sprint out with some other people. Nice job man! If you look at their bike splits, those guys were CRANKING!.
Nice job also by Kevin and Hortie!
Mo and Jeff, you da men!
I was looking for athlete trackers for both of those races but couldn't find anything.

Can anyone comment on if the bike portion was downhill both ways? Those times are rediculous. It seems like they stayed very strong on the run.
Wow congrats

Thanks everyone!
kev and I had a blast this weekend in SF.
The bike course didn't do us justice though...a little disappointing, as we came in very much ready! The course is 6 laps, each lap includes 22 turns! That plus 1000 people riding on the course, and pot holes on this old military base, made for some slow bike times.
as for my run, I have to say that I will have to be patient and give myself a good winter in order to get these times off the bike closer to the track times.
So any taker to train for a marathon in the spring? it would be a good way to get that base we all need...
In any case, it was nice to race one more time before starting our winter training.
Awesome job to everyone, and we look forward to seeing you next week!
Hortie.

Hey everyone! Huge thanks for all your support. Just to let everyone know huge props to Jeff, who on the swim encountered a wind that created white caps that could beach a whale. The half distance race was suppose to start at 8:00, I was in the water at 7:30 getting accustom to the temp and to do an easy warmup. I'm ready to go by 8:00 and by 8:30 we still haven't started. Then we get kicked out of the water because of an approaching lightning storm and herded to the transition tent to try and get warm. Then at 8:55ish were told to exit the tent and the race will start in 5 min. We had 5 min to get back into the water, warmup, and get to the starting line. So much for another warmup and the nutrition plan Harold set up for me. This was by far, a more challenging course than I ever thought, it really humbles you. There's nothing easy about it. Straight out of S2B trans you’re faced with a 1.5 mile climb, followed by another climb. It seems that all I did on the bike was climb, climb, climb, and climb some more. At mile 37 you encounter the "3 sisters." These three pitches are so steep that if you didn't get out of the saddle you would literally fall off your bike. I heard that some of the athletes had to walk at least one, if not all three, pitches. The run was sick. It's like running Bogus Basin Rd for 13 miles. No joke! So I was totally stoked when I ran all 13 and finished with an 11:15 min avg for the mile.
I won't bore you anymore I can go on and on about how awesome it was. The most motivating thing is that I came 6 min. away from placing 3rd in the Clydesdale. I'll take 5th this year but next year I'm gunning for 2nd.

Huge thanks for all of your support, both before and after the event. Dan and I had a great time.
Yes, the bike course was all downhill.....we wish!
Too much to tell using this medium so better to tell our tales over a couple of brews.

Hey - I'm thinking potluck at my house! I've got a beer frig in the garage and lots of room in the kitchen for food. Let me know day/time - I'd love to host this!! I can't wait to hear all race stories!
Thanks to everyone. This is such a great group. I could have not done this without all of your help. I look forward to the upcoming year.
Stories over beers would be great.
The bike did feel downhill most of the time.:D It was so much fun! The run was another story (OUCH!)
CLEARWATER: Fast, flat, traffic, sand, sun, smokers, SW England (Theresa and I were the foreigners), no restaurants (except Frenchy's and IHOP), sun, shells, Publix, Leo, Uncle Pauly and Graham, Amber Rock I mean Bock, sun, traffic circle, what food group does aluminum belong too? and of course Ironman, it was awesome!!!!!
