After a disappointing half ironman race here in Boise it was great to finish the olympic at the pacific crest this weekend. Not a lot of folks from boise there, but was a pleasant race.

Some things I found really annoying are:

1. Small swimming cone colors that match the colors of the swimming caps of a particular wave. I would look up, and just see 20 cones, so to speak.
2. The road was extremely bumpy and covered by shadows. I got covered and so did my bike by perpetuem hammer drink. I even have one of those fancy new lids for the areo bottle and it still seem to splash all over the place.
3. Sun river, in general, not impressed! Not the best place for a large race in my opinion. Little parking, the T1, T2, and finished all in different locations.
4. Want to rent a house there, 4 night minimum! Jerks! I got lucky and found a rental that would allow us to rent for two nights.
5. Stilling suffering from a shoulder injury.
6. Lack of eating options landed us at Mexican food the night before the race! Not going to do that again as I have never had a stomach cramp but managed to fight one the entire run. Not sure if it was the Mexican food, but other with us seem convinced. I think it was the temperature. But what do I know…
7. A stick of gum in Sun River at the local grocery store will cost you 5.99. If you go, bring your own food.

Things I enjoyed:

1. The swim was very nice (expect for the color thing I mentioned)
2. The bike was scenic and challenging (more, than anything around here), but honestly since my bike is my strongest leg of the race I really don't take in the scenery that much when pushing along as fast as my legs will take me.
3. The shaded run was nice; as well, many home owners were spraying us down with water since the run was contained to the running paths within the sun river community.

Would I do it again, I think so. But only if the Redfish lake tri gets cancelled. That race is closer and much better in terms of logistics, food, and organization.

My results are as followed.

130 (out of 580). Cody Lindley 2:54:14 = 0:32:48, 1:22:13, 0:55:23
