This has always been a dream of mine to post here since I was a kid.... or until I was registered ;)
1st I want to thank Harold for getting me into the Y not Tri training group. I wouldn't have the courage as I did on race day without them. So kudos to Harold!

Night before: I wanted to get a good night sleep so I went to bed around 10:15pm to get tons of sleep or so I thought.
Race day: It started at 4 am for me for some reason I guess I forgot to tell my body that when they the start time is at 7:40 I meant it at night. So needless to say it was a very long day.
Throughout the day I kept myself busy and not concentrate on the race, thankfully mother nature was there to my rescue. I spent a good 1/2 hour watching the lightning roll in on a hell horse (so to speak). With the rain and thunder all throughout the day my attention was not near the race at all. After work I went to the race setup to see the course setup.
Race time: about 7:30pm it started to rain again and luckily the water was warmer than the air so me and a couple guys took the hint and got in way before our time was set.
My previous plan was to stay in the back but I changed it for me to stay in the front of the pack and fight my way over to the outside so I wouldn't have to mosh with the other contenders. *BANG* goes the gun and I hit my stop watch. Being too antsy I pushed my body hard as possible in the first 100m to stay out of the pit. Lucky for me it worked, I hit a couple "bodies" in the water but for the most part I was clear. During the race with the rain getting into my goggles, my vision went from woohoo! to beer vision. Everything went blurry and I kept on loosing my line but in the end I found myself all away around the course and touched the mat with 7:07 on my stop watch. Meh I said to myself, I was shooting for under 6min but how many times I stopped to find my line cost me dearly.
When I got out the water jogging, I found out why people wear ear plugs, too bad I didn't know that sooner because I must have looked like the drunk coming outta the bar at closing time. As I started to run on the rocky parking lot, I was glad to have that drunk affect because I didn't feel too much in my feet. Getting to my T1 mat, I had to concentrate hard to make sure I didn't screw up anything. I was pretty happy with my transition and off to the bike. As I fiddle with my sunglasses because they were fogged up pretty bad because of the water, I fought to throw them in my bike jersey and tough it out without any sunglasses. Once they got in my pocket I went straight for my water bottle, as I took a swig, Erin cheered me on!! WOOHOO Thanks girl! Anywho I felt my bike wasn't up to par when I was training but I never really trained swimming that hard and get on the bike asap in that kind of weather so I guess I did pretty well in retrospect. My average speed I believe was 20.3ish mph, I'll take that. Coming back on the race, I passed on lady on a bike who actually said "GOOD JOB!" I felt kinda bad for not say anything back because that right there mad me happy to see what I was doing.
As I got to the T2 transition with only 3 people passing me on the bike, skinny little guys I tell you what, I start to unbuckle my shoes and was ready to dismount. I found out that T2 is a whole hell of a lot easier than T1, WOW. But sadly when I went through the course, I found my self going right back out in the entry way, which is the wrong way. So I hustled fast BACK over the the T2 Mat and went on my way onto the running portion. As I got about .5 into the first mile I saw Harold rooting me on and I had all of this energy so I kept on going, sadly though about .7 into the mile, I started to get severe side aches on both side, because of that and which I am not proud of, I had to walk a couple of times to stretch out my core. Once I got past the turn point my core started to numb a bit so I could continue running without stopping. Because of the numbing part I caught back up with a guy who was a running/walker so I knew I was on the right track. Keeping track of my watch I had about .7 miles left and I had around 6 mins to complete so I knew I was right on the fence of getting my goal. As the time drew near of my 45min goal, I started to see the turn and I dug deep inside to see what I was made of within that last 100m. Once I made the turn and saw the finish line, I felt like I pulled an Graig Alexander on the 70.3 Boise, Forget form just get across!!!!! Getting passed the finish line I looked at my stop watch and stopped it with only 2 seconds left with my goal I felt like a million dollars, I made my goal and I felt pretty good getting passed the run with my side aches. Which as of this morning I felt like I bruised my ribs or something cause they are TENDER!!!

As of right now I got to see my official results before I left and the official time was 44:44:xxx and I finish 30th in my division. Didn't really care about my position but I felt if I didn't have my running issues I would've been well higher in the standings. But again I had too much fun to care!!!

Post race: In the end I feel so good about my achievement and had a blast talking to all the people I have met throughout the Y tri group and some on the way. Right now for this winter I won't be training much anymore until Feb rolls around. So hopefully I will see you guys around and be part of the 70.3 Boise.

Great Job NET. Sounds like a great race for you.
Check at the Y, if you got 3rd they should have a ribbon for you.
