I have a question:

I was wondering if there is a particular benefit to working out 2 sessions back-to-back (i.e., spin/swim; swim/weights). Could I split these into a.m./p.m. sessions? I'm also referring to the Wed/Fri workouts - or as I call them "my personal trip to hell and back" sessions.

Sorry for the dorky question...I'm new to this type of training.

Hi Tiana,

At this time of the year its OK to split the sessions if you want; infact its actually good to split them, especially if anyone wants to shed a few pounds. Post-workouts, your metabolic rate remains elevated for several hours and therefore if you begin your second workout of the day before you have fully recovered then you begin the second work out with an elevated rate. Doing back to backs often means that there is almost a full day's recovery and therefore plenty of time to 'heal' from the last session.

Come summer, we'll be doing the btb sessions.
